Belong OT
An occupational therapy practice whose website was built by the therapist who runs it.
Déarbhla O’Reilly Malone is a CORU-registered Senior Occupational Therapist in Ardnacrusha, Co. Clare. She had twenty years of clinical experience and no experience of building a website. belongot.ie is a twenty-page clinical site she wrote, laid out and now maintains herself.

The Practice
Twenty years of clinical work, going into private practice
Déarbhla graduated in occupational therapy from Trinity College Dublin in 2005. Since then she has worked across early intervention, HSE primary care, children’s disability services and trauma-informed care, spent years in Western Australia as an Advanced Clinician Occupational Therapist working on complex seating, mobility and home modification, and most recently worked with the National Council for Special Education’s Sustained In-School Therapy service. She is an AOTI member and a recipient of the Eva Duggan Award.
Belong OT brings that into private practice, supporting children, adults, families, schools and organisations from Ardnacrusha, with in-person work across Clare, Limerick and Tipperary and online consultations across Ireland.

The Requirement
Not a brochure site
Occupational therapy is difficult to explain in a paragraph. A parent worried about a toddler’s feeding, a secondary school looking for staff training, and an adult who has recognised a lifelong pattern in themselves all need different information, and none of them necessarily knows which service they are looking for.
So the site had to separate four audiences without making anyone feel they were in the wrong place, explain an assessment pathway that is deliberately not one fixed route, publish fees openly enough that nobody has to ask, and carry the policy documents a regulated healthcare practice needs — safeguarding, complaints, consent and information sharing, data retention.
That is twenty pages of structured clinical content. It is also the kind of site whose content keeps changing: fees are reviewed, services are added, wording is refined after a client misreads something. Every one of those changes is a phone call and an invoice if you do not control the site yourself.
Building It
A first draft in 63 seconds, then three weeks of her own work
Web60 generated the first version of the site in 63 seconds: a working WordPress install on Irish hosting, with a theme, a structure and a set of starting pages she could log into straight away.
That draft is the beginning of the work rather than the end of it, and it is where most generated websites stop being useful. Over the following three weeks Déarbhla rewrote it into the practice she actually runs. She built out twenty pages, revised them a few hundred times between them, uploaded her own photography and illustrations, restructured the navigation, and wrote every word of the clinical content herself.
None of it needed anyone else. Because the site is ordinary WordPress and the editor is the standard block editor, the skill she picked up in the first fortnight is the same skill she uses now to change a fee or add a service page.

Getting Unstuck
The questions were answered inside the dashboard
Someone building their first website has small, specific questions, and they tend to have them at inconvenient hours. Déarbhla used the assistant built into her Web60 dashboard rather than opening support tickets and waiting.
She asked how to hide the site from visitors while she was still writing it, why WordPress was showing four themes and whether she could change them, how to find her login details, and whether there was a desktop app. The assistant answered in plain language and pointed her to the relevant knowledge base articles where there was more to read.
It also acted on the site directly when that was the answer: turning maintenance mode on and off, checking site status and alerts, clearing the cache, and changing search engine visibility once the site was ready to be found.

Running It
What a sole practitioner does not have to manage
Belong OT has no IT department and no agency on retainer. These are handled as part of the €60 a year.
Backups run themselves
The site is backed up automatically, on a schedule Déarbhla has never had to think about or configure.
WordPress stays current
Core updates are applied as they are released. She is not asked to approve them or reminded that they are overdue.
SSL is handled
The certificate was issued when the site was created and reissued when the custom domain was attached. Renewals are automatic.
Hosted in Ireland
A clinical practice collects enquiries about children and health. The site and its data stay in the jurisdiction the practice operates in.
The domain is connected
belongot.ie points at the site, with the certificate and redirects sorted out as part of attaching it.
It is ordinary WordPress
No proprietary page builder to learn and nothing to migrate away from. The editor she learned is the standard block editor.

Today
Belong OT is open, and the website is not finished
The practice is taking enquiries and booking initial consultations at belongot.ie. Déarbhla is still adding to the site — more service detail, more resources for families — which is rather the point.
A website that is finished is usually a website nobody can change. This one belongs to the person whose name is on it, and she can change it on a Tuesday evening without asking anybody.
