Backups & Restore4 min read·

This article explains how to export all your website data from Web60, including your WordPress content, media files, and database.

Method 1: Export WordPress Content

This method downloads your posts, pages, and settings as an XML file.

  1. Log into your WordPress admin dashboard by visiting yourdomain.com/wp-admin
  2. Click Tools in the left sidebar
  3. Click Export
  4. Select All content to export everything, or choose specific content types
  5. Click Download Export File
  6. Save the XML file to your computer

This XML file contains your posts, pages, comments, and settings but not your theme files or uploaded images.

Method 2: Download Complete Backup Files

For a complete copy of your website including all files and databases, use Web60's backup system.

  1. Log into your Web60 portal
  2. Find your website in the dashboard
  3. Click on Backups or Manage Backups
  4. Select the backup date you want to download
  5. Click Download next to the backup file

This gives you a complete copy of your website that can be restored elsewhere. For detailed steps, see our guide on downloading your backup files.

Method 3: Export Media Files Only

To download just your images and uploaded files:

  1. Access your WordPress admin dashboard
  2. Click Media then Library
  3. Use the Bulk Select option to choose multiple files
  4. Click Download or use a plugin like "Export Media Library"

Alternatively, you can access files directly through your hosting file manager in the Web60 portal.

Before You Export

Make sure your website content is up to date. If you've made recent changes, wait a few minutes for them to be included in automatic backups, or create a manual backup first.

Store your exported files in a safe location. Consider keeping multiple copies in different locations.

If you're planning to move your website to another host, the complete backup download is usually your best option as it contains everything needed to recreate your site.

If you're still stuck or need help choosing the right export method for your situation, contact Web60 support through your portal or email hello@web60.ie.
