How to Schedule Custom Backup Times

Backups & Restore3 min read·

This article shows you how to change when Web60 creates backups of your WordPress website.

Step 1: Access Your Web60 Control Panel

Log into your Web60 account at your dashboard URL. You'll see a list of your websites. Click on the website you want to change backup times for.

Step 2: Find the Backup Settings

Look for a section called "Backups" or "Backup Management" on your website dashboard. Click on it to open the backup options.

Step 3: Choose Your Backup Schedule

You'll see options for when backups run. The default setting is usually "Daily at 2:00 AM Irish time". Click on the dropdown menu to see other options:

  • Every 6 hours
  • Daily (you can pick the time)
  • Every 3 days
  • Weekly (you can pick the day and time)
  • Monthly

Step 4: Set Your Preferred Time

If you choose "Daily" or "Weekly", you can pick the exact time. Choose a time when your website gets the least visitors. This is usually late at night or early morning.

For Irish businesses, good backup times are typically:

  • Between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM
  • Sunday mornings if you're closed on Sundays

Backups use some of your website's resources while they run, so avoid busy periods like lunch time or evening hours.

Step 5: Save Your Changes

Click the "Save Settings" or "Update Schedule" button at the bottom of the page. You'll see a confirmation message that your backup schedule has been changed.

Step 6: Check Your First Backup

Your new backup schedule starts immediately. Check back after your chosen backup time to see if a new backup appears in your backup list.

Things to Remember

How many backups are kept: Web60 keeps your last 30 daily backups. Older backups are deleted automatically to save space.

Backup duration: Most small business websites take 2-10 minutes to backup. Larger sites with many images may take longer.

Failed backups: If a backup fails, you'll get an email notification. This can happen if your website is very busy during the backup time.

Time zone: All times are in Irish Standard Time (GMT+1 in summer, GMT in winter).

If you're still stuck or can't find the backup settings, contact Web60 support through your dashboard. Include your domain name and describe what you're trying to do.
