Restoring from an Older Backup

Backups & Restore3 min read·

This article explains how to restore your WordPress website from an older backup on Web60.

Web60 keeps multiple backup copies of your website, not just the most recent one. You can restore from backups up to 30 days old.

Step 1: Access Your Control Panel

Log into your Web60 account at the login page you received when you signed up. Click on your website name to open the control panel.

Step 2: Find the Backup Section

In your control panel, look for a section called "Backups" or "Backup & Restore". This is usually in the main menu or dashboard.

Step 3: View Available Backups

Click on "View All Backups" or "Backup History". You'll see a list of backup dates. Each backup shows:

  • The date it was created
  • The time it was created
  • The size of the backup

Backups are created automatically every day at 2 AM Irish time.

Step 4: Choose Your Backup Date

Find the backup from the date you want to restore to. Think about when your website was last working properly. Choose a backup from before the problem started.

Click "Details" or "View" next to that backup date.

Step 5: Start the Restore Process

You'll see options to restore different parts of your website:

  • Full Website Restore: Restores everything (recommended for most problems)
  • Files Only: Restores just your website files
  • Database Only: Restores just your content and settings

For most issues, choose "Full Website Restore". Click the "Restore" button.

Step 6: Confirm the Restore

Web60 will show you a warning that restoring will replace your current website. This means any changes made after the backup date will be lost.

If you're sure you want to continue, tick the confirmation box and click "Start Restore".

Step 7: Wait for Completion

The restore process takes 5-15 minutes depending on your website size. You'll see a progress bar or status message.

Do not close this page or make changes to your website during the restore.

Step 8: Check Your Website

Once the restore finishes, visit your website to make sure it's working correctly. Check a few pages and try logging into your WordPress admin area.

If you're still stuck or the restore doesn't fix your problem, contact Web60 support through your control panel or email hello@web60.ie.
