This guide shows you how to set up email alerts to monitor your backup status in Web60.
1. Access Your Web60 Portal
Log into your Web60 portal using your email address and password. If you cannot remember your login details, click "Forgot Password" on the login page.
Once logged in, click on your website name from the dashboard. This takes you to your website management area.
2. Navigate to Backup Settings
In the left-hand menu, click "Backups". This opens your backup management page where you can see your recent backups and backup schedule.
Look for a tab or section called "Notifications" or "Alerts". This is usually located at the top of the backup page or in a separate tab next to "Backup History".
3. Configure Email Alerts
Click the "Notifications" tab. You will see several checkbox options:
- Backup successful notifications
- Backup failure alerts
- Weekly backup summary
- Storage space warnings
Tick the boxes for the alerts you want to receive. Most users should enable "Backup failure alerts" and "Storage space warnings" as these indicate problems that need immediate attention.
For "Backup successful notifications", only enable this if you want daily confirmation emails. Most users find these emails too frequent.
4. Set Your Alert Email Address
Enter the email address where you want to receive alerts. This can be different from your Web60 account email address.
If you want alerts sent to multiple people (like your web developer or business partner), enter multiple email addresses separated by commas.
Click "Test Alert" to send a sample notification to your chosen email address. Check your inbox and spam folder to make sure the test email arrives.
5. Choose Alert Frequency
Set how often you want to receive certain alerts:
- Immediate: Get alerts as soon as a backup fails
- Daily digest: Receive one email per day with all backup issues
- Weekly summary: Get a weekly report of all backup activity
For backup failures, choose "Immediate" so you can address problems quickly. Use "Weekly summary" for general backup status updates.
6. Save Your Settings
Click "Save Notification Settings" at the bottom of the page. You should see a green confirmation message saying your settings have been saved.
Your first alert will be sent the next time Web60 runs a backup (usually within 24 hours). You can also trigger a manual backup to test your alerts immediately by visiting How to Create Manual Backups.
7. Managing Alert Preferences
Return to this page anytime to change your alert settings. You might want to:
- Add or remove email addresses
- Change alert frequency
- Turn off notifications temporarily during maintenance
To temporarily pause all alerts, untick all checkboxes and click "Save". Remember to turn them back on when you are finished.
If you are not receiving expected alerts, check your email spam folder and add Web60's email address to your safe sender list.
If you're still stuck with setting up backup alerts, contact Web60 support through the help section in your portal. Include details about which email address you are using and whether you received the test alert.
