How We Manage Customer Data

SmartHost & Web605 min read·

This article explains how Web60 manages and protects your business data on our managed WordPress hosting service.

Data Collection and Storage

Web60 collects data in three main ways. First, we store your account information including your name, email address, billing details, and business information. Second, we store your website files, including all content, images, and databases that make up your WordPress site. Third, we collect system logs that help us maintain server performance and troubleshoot issues.

All data is stored in our Irish data centres, which means your information never leaves Ireland. Your website files are stored on SSD drives with automatic daily backups. Account information is stored in encrypted databases with restricted access.

Data Access and Security

Only authorised Web60 staff can access your data, and only when necessary for technical support or system maintenance. All staff members have signed confidentiality agreements and receive regular data protection training.

Your data is protected by multiple security layers. These include encrypted connections (SSL/TLS), secure server configurations, regular security updates, and monitored access logs. We also maintain backups in separate, secure locations to prevent data loss.

GDPR and Irish Data Protection

Web60 complies with both GDPR and Irish Data Protection Act requirements. As an Irish company, we follow strict data protection guidelines set by the Data Protection Commission of Ireland.

You have several rights regarding your data. You can request a copy of all data we hold about you, ask us to correct any incorrect information, or request deletion of your data when you close your account. You can also restrict how we process your data or object to certain uses.

For detailed information about GDPR compliance, see our guide on How We Handle GDPR Compliance.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your website data for as long as your account is active. When you cancel your subscription, we retain your data for 30 days to allow for account reactivation. After 30 days, all website files and databases are permanently deleted.

Account information is kept for 7 years after account closure for legal and tax purposes, as required by Irish law. Payment information is deleted immediately after your final invoice is processed, except for the last 4 digits of card numbers which are kept for reference.

Backup files are automatically deleted after 30 days. If you want your data deleted immediately upon cancellation, contact our support team.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

Web60 does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We only share data when legally required or with your explicit consent.

Some technical services require limited data sharing. For example, domain registration requires sharing contact information with domain registries. Payment processing involves sharing billing information with our payment provider. All third parties we work with meet strict data protection standards.

Requesting Your Data

You can request a copy of your data at any time through your Web60 portal or by contacting support. We provide website backups through the portal, which you can download directly. For account information or other data requests, we respond within 30 days as required by law.

To learn more about data encryption methods, see How We Handle Data Encryption.

If you're still stuck or have specific data protection questions, contact our support team through your Web60 portal or email us directly.
