Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Web60 account. When it is enabled, you need both your password and a code from your phone to sign in. This means that even if someone discovers your password, they cannot access your account without your phone.
What you need
Before you start, make sure you have an authenticator app installed on your phone. Any of these free apps will work:
- Google Authenticator (iPhone and Android)
- Microsoft Authenticator (iPhone and Android)
- Authy (iPhone and Android)
- 1Password (if you already use it as a password manager)
How to enable 2FA
- Sign in to your Web60 dashboard at app.web60.ie.
- Click "Account" in the left-hand sidebar.
- Scroll down to the Two-Factor Authentication section.
- Click "Enable Two-Factor Authentication".

- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. Open the app on your phone, tap the option to add a new account (usually a "+" button), and point your camera at the QR code on screen.

- Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app into the verification field and click Verify.

- Save your recovery codes. You will be shown a set of 8 recovery codes. These are your backup if you ever lose access to your phone. Copy them or write them down and keep them somewhere safe.

- Click "Done" to finish the setup.
That is it. From now on, when you sign in to your Web60 dashboard, you will be asked for a code from your authenticator app after entering your password.
If you cannot scan the QR code
If your camera is not working or you prefer to type, click "Can't scan? Enter the key manually" below the QR code. You will see a text key that you can type into your authenticator app instead.
Tips
- Do not store your recovery codes on your phone. If you lose your phone, you lose both your authenticator app and your codes. Print them out or save them in a password manager on a different device.
- Set up 2FA on a personal device, not a shared or public computer.
- Keep your authenticator app updated to avoid any issues.

Frequently asked questions
Which authenticator apps work with Web60?
Any app that supports TOTP codes will work. Popular choices include Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, and 1Password. All are free to download on iPhone and Android.
Can I use SMS instead of an authenticator app?
No. Web60 uses authenticator apps only, as they are more secure than SMS codes. SMS codes can be intercepted, whereas authenticator app codes are generated on your device and never sent over the network.
What if I lose my phone?
When you set up 2FA, you are given a set of recovery codes. Use one of these to sign in, then set up 2FA again with your new device. See our guide on recovery codes for more details.
How do I turn off 2FA?
Go to the Account page in your dashboard, scroll to the Two-Factor Authentication section, and click Disable. You will need to enter your password and a code from your authenticator app to confirm.
