Data protection is important, and Web60 is designed to help you meet your obligations. This page explains how your data is handled, where it is stored, and what you are responsible for when it comes to GDPR.
An Irish company, Irish servers
Web60 is operated by SmartHost Web Services Limited, an Irish company. Your website data, including your pages, images, and any information submitted through your site, is stored on servers located in Ireland.
Because your data stays within Ireland and the European Union, it is subject to EU data protection law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is an important benefit for any business that collects personal information from customers or visitors.
You control your data
Through your Web60 dashboard, you have control over your website and the data associated with it. You can:
- Edit or remove content from your website at any time
- View and manage your account details
- Contact support if you need help with anything related to your data
Your website is yours. Web60 provides the platform, but you decide what goes on your site and how you use it.
What is included for data protection
Several features are built into every Web60 plan to help keep your data safe:
- Hosting in Ireland. Your data stays within the EU, supporting GDPR compliance.
- Free SSL certificate. Protects information submitted through your website by keeping the connection between your site and your visitors secure.
- Daily automatic backups. A copy of your website is saved every day, so your data is protected against accidental loss.
These features are included at no extra cost and are managed automatically.
What happens if you cancel
If you cancel your Web60 account, your website data is retained for 30 days after cancellation. During this period, it may be possible to restore your site if you change your mind.
After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted from our servers.
Your responsibilities
While Web60 takes care of the platform and hosting, there are a few things that are your responsibility as a website owner:
Privacy policy
If your website collects any personal information from visitors, for example names and email addresses through a contact form, you should have a privacy policy on your site. This tells your visitors what information you collect, why you collect it, and how you use it.
Cookie consent
If your website uses cookies (such as analytics or marketing cookies), you are responsible for having a cookie consent notice that lets visitors choose which cookies to accept. This is a requirement under EU law.
Data requests
Under GDPR, individuals have the right to ask what personal data you hold about them and to request that it be deleted. If someone contacts you with a data request, it is your responsibility to respond.
GDPR-specific queries
If you have specific questions about GDPR, data protection, or how your information is handled by Web60, please get in touch through our support page. We will do our best to help or point you in the right direction.
