What Does a DNS Health Report Check?

A healthy DNS configuration ensures your domain resolves correctly, email is authenticated, and nameservers are properly redundant. Our report runs 13 independent checks across three categories — nameservers, domain records, and mail authentication — using Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS for accurate, real-time results.

Nameserver Health

We check that your domain has at least two nameservers for redundancy, that each nameserver hostname resolves to an IP address, and that your SOA (Start of Authority) record is well-formed with sensible refresh, serial, and expire values.

Domain Records

We verify your domain has A records (IPv4), check TTL values are within a sensible range, test for AAAA records (IPv6 support), and confirm that www.yourdomain resolves — so visitors using either form can reach your site.

SPF & DMARC

SPF specifies which servers can send email on your behalf. DMARC tells receiving servers what to do with messages that fail SPF or DKIM checks. Together they prevent email spoofing and improve deliverability.

MX Records

MX records tell the internet where to deliver email for your domain. Without them, messages to @yourdomain will bounce. We check that at least one MX record exists and report the configured mail servers.
