How to Transfer Your Domain to Web60

Domain Management4 min read·

This guide shows you how to transfer your domain name to Web60.

Before You Start

You need access to your current domain registrar account (the company where you bought your domain). You'll also need your Web60 hosting account details.

Domain transfers take 5-7 days to complete. Your website will stay online during this time.

Step 1: Unlock Your Domain

  1. Log into your current domain registrar's website
  2. Find your domain in the dashboard or domain list
  3. Look for "Domain Lock" or "Transfer Lock" settings
  4. Turn off the lock (set it to "Unlocked" or "Disabled")
  5. Save the changes

Some registrars call this "Domain Protection" or "Registrar Lock". The exact name varies but the function is the same.

Step 2: Get Your Auth Code

The auth code (also called EPP code) proves you own the domain.

  1. In your registrar's domain settings, look for "Auth Code", "EPP Code", or "Transfer Code"
  2. Click "Generate" or "Get Auth Code"
  3. Copy this code and save it somewhere safe
  4. Some registrars email the code instead of showing it on screen

If you cannot find this option, contact your current registrar's support team.

Step 3: Start the Transfer in Web60

  1. Log into your Web60 control panel
  2. Go to the "Domains" section
  3. Click "Transfer Domain"
  4. Enter your domain name (without www)
  5. Enter the auth code from Step 2
  6. Follow the checkout process

Step 4: Confirm the Transfer

You'll receive an email asking you to approve the transfer. This email goes to the admin contact address for your domain.

  1. Check your email inbox and spam folder
  2. Look for an email about "domain transfer authorization"
  3. Click the approval link in the email
  4. If you don't see this email within 24 hours, check with Web60 support

Step 5: Update Nameservers

Once the transfer completes, update your domain's nameservers to point to Web60:

  1. Log into your Web60 control panel
  2. Go to "Domains" and find your transferred domain
  3. Copy the nameserver addresses shown
  4. In the domain settings, replace the old nameservers with the Web60 ones
  5. Save the changes

It takes 24-48 hours for nameserver changes to work everywhere.

If you're stuck at any point, contact Web60 support with your domain name and which step is causing problems.
