This guide shows you how to connect and manage multiple domain names for your Web60 website.
Why Use Multiple Domain Names
Many Irish businesses need multiple domain names. You might own both the .ie and .com versions of your business name, or you might have an old domain that customers still type in. With Web60, you can connect multiple domains to the same website.
Step 1: Connect Your Primary Domain
Start by connecting your main domain name to Web60. This is the domain that visitors will see in their browser address bar.
- Log into your Web60 Portal
- Click "Domains" in the left menu
- Click "Connect Domain" and enter your primary domain name
- Follow the connection steps provided
For detailed instructions, see How to Connect Your Custom Domain to Web60.
Step 2: Add Additional Domains
Once your primary domain is working, you can add more domains:
- In your Web60 Portal, go to "Domains"
- Click "Add Domain"
- Enter your additional domain name
- Choose "Redirect to primary domain"
- Click "Add Domain"
The system will provide DNS settings to configure with your domain registrar.
Step 3: Set Up Domain Redirects
When someone visits your additional domains, they should automatically redirect to your primary domain. This prevents duplicate content issues and ensures all visitors see the same website.
- Select your additional domain from the domains list
- Choose "301 Redirect" as the action
- Enter your primary domain as the redirect target
- Save the settings
A 301 redirect tells search engines that the additional domain permanently points to your primary domain.
Step 4: Configure DNS Settings
For each additional domain, you need to update the DNS settings with your domain registrar:
- Log into your domain registrar's control panel
- Find the DNS or nameserver settings
- Add the DNS records provided by Web60
- Save the changes
DNS changes can take 24-48 hours to work worldwide. For more help with DNS, see Managing DNS Settings for Your Domain.
Step 5: Test Your Domains
After DNS changes have had time to update:
- Type each domain into a web browser
- Check that all domains redirect to your primary domain
- Verify that the website loads correctly
- Test both "www" and "non-www" versions of each domain
Common Domain Combinations
- yourbusiness.ie and yourbusiness.com - Covers Irish and international visitors
- yourbusiness.ie and www.yourbusiness.ie - Handles visitors who type "www"
- oldbusinessname.ie and newbusinessname.ie - Useful after rebranding
Important Notes
- All additional domains will show the same website content
- Search engines will recognise your primary domain as the main one
- Email addresses can work with any of your connected domains
- SSL certificates (the padlock in browsers) work automatically for all connected domains
If you're having trouble connecting domains, see Troubleshooting Domain Connection Issues.
If you're still stuck, contact Web60 support through your portal. Include the domain names you're trying to connect and any error messages you're seeing.
FAQ
Q: How many domain names can I connect to my Web60 website?
A: You can connect up to 10 domain names to your Web60 website. This covers most business needs including .ie, .com, and www variations.
Q: Will visitors see a different address in their browser?
A: If you set up redirects properly, visitors will always see your primary domain name in their browser, regardless of which domain they originally typed.
Q: Do I need separate hosting for each domain?
A: No, all your domains point to the same Web60 website. You only need one Web60 account to manage multiple domain names.
Q: Can I use different domain names for different pages?
A: All connected domains show the same website. If you want completely different websites, you need separate Web60 accounts for each one.

Q: How long does it take for additional domains to start working?
A: DNS changes typically take 4-24 hours to work fully, though they can occasionally take up to 48 hours to update worldwide.
Q: Should I redirect my old domain to my new one?
A: Yes, always redirect old domains to new ones using 301 redirects. This preserves any search engine rankings and ensures customers can still find you.
