This article explains how to set up domain parking on Web60 to redirect additional domains to your main website.
What is Domain Parking
Domain parking lets you redirect one domain to another website. For example, if you own both "yourshop.ie" and "yourshop.com", you can park one domain so visitors automatically go to your main website.
Step 1: Access Your Web60 Portal
- Log into your Web60 account at your account dashboard
- Click on "Domain Management" in the main menu
- Select "Parked Domains" from the dropdown options
If you need help accessing your account, check our guide on Understanding Your Web60 Portal.
Step 2: Add Your Parked Domain
- Click the "Add Parked Domain" button
- Enter the domain name you want to park (without www)
- Select which website you want to redirect visitors to from the dropdown menu
- Click "Add Domain"
The system will show a confirmation message when the domain is added successfully.
Step 3: Update Your Domain's DNS Settings
For domain parking to work, you need to update the DNS settings where your domain is registered:
- Log into your domain registrar's control panel (where you bought the domain)
- Find the DNS or nameserver settings
- Change the A record to point to the IP address shown in your Web60 portal
- Save the changes
DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to work worldwide, though most complete within 2-6 hours.
Step 4: Test Your Parked Domain
After the DNS changes take effect:
- Open a new browser window
- Type your parked domain name in the address bar
- Check that it redirects to your main website
If the redirect doesn't work immediately, wait a few more hours for DNS propagation to complete.
Important Notes
- You can park multiple domains to the same website
- Parked domains don't need their own hosting space
- Search engines will recognise the redirect and won't penalise your main website
- You can remove parked domains at any time through your Web60 portal
