How to add a contact form to your website

Building Your Website4 min read·

A contact form lets visitors send you a message directly from your website. It is more professional than simply listing your email address, and it helps reduce spam because your email is not visible on the page.

If you used the Web60 Site Builder, your site already includes a working contact form. This guide is for anyone who started with a blank WordPress installation and wants to add one.

What you will need

We recommend WPForms Lite for adding a contact form. It is free, beginner-friendly, and trusted by millions of websites worldwide. You do not need any coding knowledge to set it up.

Step 1: Install the WPForms plugin

  1. Open your WordPress editor by clicking WP Admin in your Web60 dashboard
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Plugins then Add New
  3. In the search box, type WPForms
  4. Find WPForms Lite in the results and click Install Now
  5. Once installed, click Activate

You can also install WPForms from the Software Manager in your Web60 dashboard. See our guide to installing plugins for more details.

Step 2: Create your contact form

  1. After activating WPForms, click WPForms in the left-hand menu
  2. Click Add New
  3. Give your form a name (for example, "Contact Form")
  4. Choose the Simple Contact Form template

WPForms will create a ready-made form with three fields: Name, Email, and Message. This is all most small businesses need to get started.

Step 3: Customise your form (optional)

The form builder lets you make changes by dragging and dropping:

  • Add fields by dragging them from the left panel onto your form. You might want to add a Phone field or a Subject field.
  • Edit fields by clicking on them. You can change the label, add placeholder text, or make a field required.
  • Rearrange fields by dragging them up or down.

Click Save when you are finished.

Step 4: Set your notification email

By default, form submissions are sent to your WordPress admin email address. To change this:

  1. In the form builder, click Settings then Notifications
  2. Change the Send To Email Address to the email where you want to receive messages
  3. You can also customise the email subject line
  4. Click Save

Step 5: Add the form to a page

  1. Go to Pages in the left-hand menu and open your Contact page (or create one if you have not already)
  2. Click the + button to add a new block
  3. Search for WPForms and select the WPForms block
  4. Choose your contact form from the dropdown
  5. The form will appear on your page
  6. Click Update (or Publish if this is a new page)

Step 6: Test your form

Visit your Contact page on the live site and fill in the form yourself. Check that:

  • The form submits without errors
  • You receive the notification email
  • The confirmation message appears on screen

If your form is not sending emails, see our troubleshooting guide.

Tips for a good contact form

  • Keep it short. The fewer fields you have, the more likely visitors are to fill it in. Name, Email, and Message are usually enough.
  • Add a confirmation message. WPForms shows a default "Thank you" message after submission. You can customise this in Settings then Confirmations.
  • Place it on a dedicated Contact page. Make sure this page is easy to find in your navigation menu.
