My website is not loading

Troubleshooting3 min read·

If your website is not loading, do not worry. There are a few simple things you can check before contacting support. Work through this list from top to bottom. Most issues are resolved within the first few steps.

Step 1: Check your internet connection

Before anything else, make sure your own internet connection is working. Try visiting a different website, such as google.com. If other websites load fine, the problem is not your internet.

If other websites are also not loading, restart your router or try connecting to a different network (for example, your phone's mobile data).

Step 2: Try a different browser or private window

Sometimes your browser stores old information that can cause problems. Try one of the following:

  • Open a different browser. If you normally use Chrome, try Safari, Firefox, or Edge.
  • Open a private or incognito window. In most browsers, you can do this from the File menu or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+N (Windows) or Command+Shift+N (Mac).

If your website loads in a different browser or private window, the issue is most likely your browser's stored data. Clearing your browser cache should fix it.

Step 3: Check your site status in your Web60 dashboard

Sign in to your Web60 dashboard and look at your website's status.

  1. Go to app.web60.ie/login and sign in.
  2. Look at your website in the dashboard.
  3. Check the status indicator. Is it green? A green indicator means your site is live and running normally.

If the status is not green, there may be a temporary issue. Wait a few minutes and check again.

Step 4: Clear your site's cache

Your website stores temporary files to help it load faster. Sometimes these files become outdated and cause problems.

  1. Sign in to your Web60 dashboard.
  2. Click My Website in the sidebar.
  3. Look for the Clear Cache option and click it.
  4. Wait a minute, then try loading your website again.

Step 5: Try your temporary web address

If you are using a custom domain (like yourbusiness.ie), try loading your website using the temporary smartsitebuilder.ie address instead. You can find this address in your Web60 dashboard under the Domain section.

If your site loads on the temporary address but not on your custom domain, the issue is with your domain settings. See our guide on DNS not updating for help.

Step 6: Contact support

If you have worked through all the steps above and your website is still not loading, it is time to get in touch with us. We will investigate and get your site back online as quickly as possible.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if the problem is with my internet or with my website?

Try visiting another website such as google.com. If that loads fine, the issue is likely with your website rather than your internet connection.

What does the green status indicator mean in my Web60 dashboard?

A green status indicator means your website is live and running normally. If it shows any other colour, there may be an issue that needs attention.

What is a temporary smartsitebuilder.ie address?

When your website is first created, it gets a temporary web address ending in smartsitebuilder.ie. This address always works, even if your custom domain is not set up yet.
