Managing Multiple Websites

This article explains how to add and manage multiple WordPress websites on your Web60 account.

Adding a New Website

  1. Log into your Web60 control panel using the login details sent to your email when you first signed up.

  2. Find the 'Add New Site' button on your main dashboard. This is usually displayed prominently at the top of the page.

  3. Enter your domain name in the field provided. Type just the domain name (like 'mybusiness.ie'), not the full web address.

  4. Choose your WordPress version from the dropdown menu. Select the latest version unless you have a specific reason to use an older one.

  5. Set your admin details by creating a username and password for this new website. Write these down somewhere safe - you'll need them to log into WordPress later.

  6. Click 'Create Site' and wait for the setup to complete. This usually takes 2-3 minutes.

Switching Between Your Websites

Once you have multiple websites, you need to know how to access each one:

  1. Use the site selector in your Web60 control panel. This appears as a dropdown menu showing all your websites.

  2. Click on any website name to switch to managing that specific site.

  3. Access WordPress admin by clicking the 'WordPress Admin' link that appears when you select a website.

Managing Website Settings

Each website has its own settings that you can control independently:

Backups

Every website gets backed up automatically, but you can create manual backups before making changes. Look for the 'Backups' section when you select a website.

SSL Certificates

SSL certificates (the 'https' security) are set up automatically for each new website. You don't need to do anything, but you can check the status in the 'SSL' section.

Email Accounts

You can create email addresses for each domain separately. Select your website, then look for 'Email Accounts' to add addresses like info@yourdomain.ie.

Important Limits

Your Web60 account includes space for multiple websites, but they all share the same storage space and monthly data transfer allowance. If you have many large websites, you might need to monitor your usage in the 'Account Usage' section.

Domain Setup

Remember that adding a website to Web60 doesn't automatically connect your domain name. You need to either:

  • Point your domain's nameservers to Web60 (recommended)
  • Update your domain's A record to point to your Web60 server IP

The exact details for your account are shown in the 'Domain Setup' section of your control panel.

If you're still stuck with managing multiple websites, contact Web60 support through the help desk in your control panel or email support directly.

FAQ

Q: How many websites can I add to my Web60 account?

A: There's no strict limit on the number of websites, but they all share your account's storage and bandwidth. Most small business sites work fine with multiple websites on one account.

Q: Do I need separate WordPress logins for each website?

A: Yes, each WordPress website has its own separate admin login. You set these up when creating each new site.

Q: Can I use different domain names for each website?

A: Yes, each website can have its own unique domain name. You'll need to own each domain and point it to Web60.

Q: What happens to my emails if I add more websites?

A: Each domain can have its own email addresses. Adding more websites doesn't affect existing email accounts.

Q: Can I delete a website if I no longer need it?

A: Yes, you can remove websites from your account through the control panel. This permanently deletes all files and data for that site.

Q: Do all my websites share the same backup schedule?

A: Each website gets backed up individually on the same schedule, so you can restore just one website without affecting the others.
