Managing Multiple Payment Methods

Billing & Account4 min read·

This article explains how to add and manage multiple payment methods on your Web60 account.

Accessing Your Payment Methods

  1. Log into your Web60 portal at portal.web60.ie
  2. Click on "Billing & Account" in the main menu
  3. Select "Payment Methods" from the dropdown menu
  4. You'll see a list of your current payment methods and their status

Adding a New Payment Method

  1. Click the "Add Payment Method" button
  2. Choose your payment type (Credit Card or Debit Card)
  3. Enter your card details:
    • Card number (16 digits)
    • Expiry date (MM/YY format)
    • CVV code (3 digits on the back of your card)
    • Cardholder name (exactly as it appears on the card)
  4. Add a nickname for this card (like "Business Visa" or "Personal Card")
  5. Click "Save Payment Method"

The system will verify your card with a small test charge that gets refunded immediately.

Setting Your Default Payment Method

  1. In your Payment Methods list, find the card you want to use as default
  2. Click the "Set as Default" button next to that payment method
  3. A green tick will appear next to your default card
  4. All future charges will use this card unless it fails

Your default payment method is automatically charged for renewals and any additional services.

Managing Existing Payment Methods

To update card details:

  1. Click "Edit" next to the payment method
  2. Update the expiry date or cardholder name
  3. Click "Save Changes"

Note: You cannot change the card number. To use a different card, add it as a new payment method and delete the old one.

To remove a payment method:

  1. Click "Delete" next to the payment method
  2. Confirm the deletion
  3. You cannot delete your only payment method or the one set as default

Payment Method Backup System

Web60 automatically tries your payment methods in this order:

  1. Your default payment method
  2. Your most recently added backup method
  3. Any other active payment methods (by date added)

This prevents service interruptions if your main card expires or has insufficient funds. You'll receive an email notification if the default payment fails and a backup method is charged instead.

Updating Expired Cards

When a card expires:

  1. Add the new card with updated expiry date
  2. Set it as your new default payment method
  3. Delete the expired card
  4. Check that any billing alerts are updated

You'll receive email reminders 30 days before any saved payment method expires.

FAQ

Q: How many payment methods can I add to my account?

A: You can add up to 5 payment methods to your Web60 account. This includes credit cards, debit cards, and any other supported payment types.

Q: Will I be charged when I add a new payment method?

A: Web60 makes a small verification charge (usually €1) that gets refunded within 24 hours. This confirms your card is valid and active.

Q: What happens if all my payment methods fail?

A: You'll receive immediate email and SMS notifications. Your service continues for 7 days while you update your payment details, after which your account may be suspended.

Q: Can I use someone else's card for my business account?

A: Yes, but the cardholder must approve business charges. For business accounts, we recommend using a company card or the business owner's personal card.

Q: Do you store my full card details?

A: No. Web60 uses encrypted tokens that represent your card. We never store your full card number, and all payment processing meets PCI compliance standards.

Q: Can I set different cards for different services?

A: No. Your default payment method is used for all Web60 services including hosting, domains, and any add-ons. You cannot assign specific cards to specific services.

Q: What types of cards do you accept?

A: Web60 accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro cards issued by Irish and EU banks. American Express and prepaid cards are not currently supported.
