Managing Team Access and Permissions

Billing & Account4 min read·

This article explains how to give team members access to your Web60 account and your WordPress website.

Adding Team Members to Your Web60 Account

Your Web60 account controls billing, domain settings, and backups. Only trusted team members should have access to this area.

  1. Log into your Web60 portal at portal.web60.ie
  2. Click "Account Settings" in the left menu
  3. Select "Team Access" from the options
  4. Click "Add Team Member"
  5. Enter their email address and select their access level:
    • Full Access: Can change billing, cancel services, and access everything
    • Technical Access: Can manage websites and domains but cannot change billing
    • View Only: Can see account information but cannot make changes
  6. Click "Send Invitation"

The team member will receive an email with instructions to create their own login. They cannot access your account until they complete this step.

Adding Users to Your WordPress Website

WordPress user accounts control who can edit your website content. This is separate from your Web60 account access.

  1. Access your WordPress admin dashboard
  2. Click "Users" in the left menu, then "Add New"
  3. Fill in the required information:
    • Username (cannot be changed later)
    • Email address
    • First and last name
    • Website (optional)
  4. Choose a role for this user:
    • Administrator: Full control over the website (be very careful with this)
    • Editor: Can publish and manage posts and pages
    • Author: Can publish and manage their own posts only
    • Contributor: Can write posts but cannot publish them
    • Subscriber: Can only read content and manage their profile
  5. Set a strong password or let WordPress generate one
  6. Tick "Send the new user an email about their account" if you want them to receive login details
  7. Click "Add New User"

Managing Existing Team Access

To change someone's permissions or remove their access:

For Web60 Account Access:

  1. Go to "Account Settings" > "Team Access" in your Web60 portal
  2. Find the team member in the list
  3. Click "Edit" to change their access level or "Remove" to revoke access

For WordPress Access:

  1. Go to "Users" > "All Users" in your WordPress dashboard
  2. Find the user and click "Edit"
  3. Change their role using the dropdown menu, or scroll down and click "Delete User" to remove them

Security Tips

Never share your main login details with team members. Always create separate accounts so you can track who made changes and remove access when someone leaves your business.

Q: What's the difference between Web60 access and WordPress access?

A: Web60 account access controls billing, domains, and backups. WordPress access only controls who can edit your website content. These are completely separate systems.

Q: How many team members can I add?

A: You can add unlimited team members to both your Web60 account and your WordPress website at no extra cost.

Q: Can I remove a team member's access immediately?

A: Yes, removing access takes effect immediately. They will lose access to your account or website as soon as you click "Remove" or "Delete User".

Q: What happens if I give someone Administrator access in WordPress?

A: WordPress Administrators can install plugins, change themes, delete content, and add other users. Only give this level to people you completely trust with your website.

Q: Can team members create backups?

A: Team members with "Full Access" or "Technical Access" to your Web60 account can create and restore backups. WordPress users cannot access the backup system regardless of their role.

Q: Will team members get their own login details?
