The hero section is the large banner at the top of your homepage. It typically includes a background image, a headline, a subheading, and a call-to-action button.
Changing the headline and subheading
- Open your homepage in the WordPress editor.
- Click directly on the headline text in the hero section.
- Delete the existing text and type your own.
- Do the same for the subheading below it.
- Click Update to save.
Changing the hero image
- Click on the hero section background image.
- In the block toolbar or sidebar, look for Replace or the image options.
- Choose Upload to use your own image, or Media Library to pick an existing one.
- Select your image and it will replace the current one.
For best results, use a high-quality landscape image at least 1920 pixels wide.
Editing the call-to-action button
- Click on the button text (e.g. "Discover More").
- Type your new button text (e.g. "Get a Quote", "View Services").
- To change where the button links, click the button, then click the link icon in the toolbar.
- Paste or type the URL you want the button to link to.
Tips
- Keep your headline short — aim for 6-10 words that clearly describe what you do.
- Choose an image that represents your business. Avoid generic stock photos if possible.
- Make your button text action-oriented: "Book Now", "See Our Work", "Contact Us".
Frequently asked questions
What size should my hero image be?
For best results, use an image at least 1920 pixels wide. Landscape orientation works best. The image will be cropped to fit the hero area.
Can I remove the hero section?
Yes. Click on the hero section in the block editor, click the three dots menu, and select Remove block. You can always add it back later.
