My website looks broken or wrong

Troubleshooting3 min read·

If your website is loading but something looks wrong, such as missing images, broken layout, wrong fonts, or jumbled content, here is how to fix it.

Step 1: Clear your browser cache and reload

Your browser stores copies of your website to help it load faster. Sometimes it shows you an old version that does not match your current design.

  1. Open your browser settings.
  2. Find the option to clear browsing data or clear cache.
  3. Clear it, then reload your website.

Quick shortcut: On most browsers, pressing Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Command+Shift+R (Mac) will reload the page while ignoring the cache.

Step 2: Try a different browser or incognito window

If clearing the cache did not help, try one of these:

  • Open a different browser. If you normally use Chrome, try Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
  • Open a private/incognito window. This loads the page fresh without any stored data.

If the site looks correct in a different browser or private window, the issue is with your main browser's stored data. A full cache clear should resolve it.

Step 3: Clear your site's cache

Your website itself also stores temporary files. Clearing this cache forces it to rebuild the page fresh.

  1. Sign in to your Web60 dashboard at app.web60.ie/login.
  2. Click My Website in the sidebar.
  3. Click the option to Clear Cache.
  4. Wait a minute or two, then reload your website.

Step 4: Check for recent changes

Think about whether you recently made any changes to your website:

  • Updated a plugin? A plugin update can sometimes cause display issues. If you recently updated a plugin and the problem started afterwards, that update may be the cause.
  • Changed your theme or design? If a design change went wrong, you may want to restore a backup.
  • Added new content? Sometimes pasting content from a Word document or another website brings in hidden formatting that can cause layout issues.

If you need to undo a recent change, Web60 keeps backups of your website. Contact our support team and we can help you restore a previous version.

Step 5: Check for error messages

Sometimes your website may show technical error messages on the page instead of your normal content. If you see any unusual text or error messages appearing on your website, take note of what they say, as this information will be helpful if you need to contact support.

Step 6: Contact support

If your website still looks broken after trying the steps above, get in touch with us. It helps if you can tell us:

  • What looks wrong (missing images, broken layout, wrong fonts, etc.)
  • When the problem started
  • Whether you made any recent changes to your website

Frequently asked questions

Why does my website look different from what I see in the editor?

This is usually a caching issue. Your browser or your website may be showing an older version of the page. Clear your site's cache from your Web60 dashboard and clear your browser cache, then reload the page.

Can I undo a change that broke my website?

Yes. Web60 keeps backups of your website. If a recent change caused the problem, you can restore a previous version. Contact our support team and we can help you roll back to a working version.

Why are images missing from my website?

Missing images are often caused by a caching issue or by images being accidentally deleted. Try clearing your site cache from your Web60 dashboard first. If the images are still missing, contact support and we can help you find the cause.
