Making your website live

Building Your Website2 min read·

Your Web60 website is live from the moment the AI Site Builder creates it — but it is on a temporary address like yoursite.smartsitebuilder.ie. To give it a professional, memorable address like www.yourbusiness.ie, you need to connect a domain.

Step 1: Get a domain name

If you do not already have a domain, you can:

  • Register one through Web60 — see registering a domain
  • Use a domain you already own from any domain registrar (e.g. Blacknight, GoDaddy, Namecheap)

Step 2: Connect your domain

Follow our step-by-step guide to connect your domain to your Web60 website. This involves updating your domain's DNS settings to point to your Web60 hosting.

Step 3: Wait for DNS to propagate

After updating your DNS settings, it can take up to 48 hours for the changes to take effect worldwide — though it usually happens within a few hours. See DNS propagation for more detail.

Step 4: Verify SSL

Once your domain is connected, Web60 automatically sets up an SSL certificate so your site loads securely with https://. You can check the status on the Domain page in your Web60 dashboard.

Before you go live

Make sure you have:

  • Reviewed and updated all your page content — see what to do after building
  • Added your own images to replace placeholders
  • Tested your contact form
  • Previewed your site on mobile

Tips

  • Your temporary smartsitebuilder.ie address will continue to work after you connect a domain — but visitors should use your custom domain.
  • Tell Google about your new site by submitting your sitemap in Google Search Console. See getting your site on Google.
